Book of Small Prophet
Habakkuk
Chapter
3
¹ A prayer of the prophet Habakkuk according to Shigionoth. ² O LORD, I have heard of your renown and I stand in awe, O LORD, of your work. In our own time revive it; in our own time make it known; in wrath may you remember mercy
(Book of Small Prophet Habakkuk Chapter 3 verses 1 to 2)
Oh God my blessed Father, in Your presence I feel speechless and small, especially when I look at the wonders of the world and nature itself, how delicately You have made us and all creation, high and mighty is Your Name Amen. Oh God my Father even though I ask of things or events according to my own timing, Your timing is the best, may all take place according to Your will Amen
³ God came from Teman, the Holy One from Mount Paran. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.
(Book of Small Prophet Habakkuk Chapter 3 verse 3)
Oh God, my beloved Father, even though I do not understand what Habbakuk means by Teman and Mount Paran which probably existed in his times, I believe that You are and have always been in the heavens even before the heavens were created. I also hold that the earth itself, if it had a voice, would be more than willing to give You praise and worship Amen.
⁴ The brightness was like the sun; rays came forth from his hand, where his power lay hidden.
(Book of Small Prophet Habakkuk Chapter 3 verse 4)
Oh God brightness radiates from You and rays of healing love and mercy flow from Your heart as from Your hands. Amen. I thank You for all that You do for me and the healing that You give me Amen.
⁵ Before him went pestilence, and plague followed close behind.
(Book of Small Prophet Habakkuk Chapter 3 verse 5)
Oh God my Father all things and powers have their source in You. You have the power to send graces and providence, and You can also make use of the elements on earth for Your purposes as in the case of Egypt, where the people of the Pharoah including the Pharoah himself experienced the death of his son. Amen.
⁶ He stopped and shook the earth; he looked and made the nations tremble. The eternal mountains were shattered; along his ancient pathways the everlasting hills sank low.
(Book of Small Prophet Habakkuk Chapter 3 verse 6)
Oh God my Father, if a mortal can have all this power, and cause so much fear in his environment how much more are we to love and respect You and have Your fear in us, since You are much greater and powerful than any mortal Amen.
⁷ I saw the tents of Cushan under affliction; the tent-curtains of the land of Midian trembled.
(Book of Small Prophet Habakkuk Chapter 3 verse 7)
Oh God my beloved Father, Your foresight and knowledge is beyond that of humanity, You have known what was to take place, and You also know what is to take place. I pray in thanksgiving for both what has taken place and even for what is to come Amen.
⁸ Was your wrath against the rivers O LORD? Or your anger against the rivers, or your rage against the sea, when you drove your horses your chariots to victory?
(Book of Small Prophet Habakkuk Chapter 3 verse 8)
Oh God my Father, had Your anger been against the rivers, or the sea, they would no longer exist, for nobody can withstand Your anger. Even though You are a loving God, as the loving Father that You are at times we still need a dose of discipline with love and care Amen.
⁹ You brandished your naked bow, sated were the arrows at your command You split the earth with rivers.
(Book of Small Prophet Habakkuk Chapter 3 verse 9)
Oh God my Father, I am one of Your arrows, I go wherever You send me Amen.
¹⁰ The mountains saw you, and writhed; a torrent of water swept by; the deep gave forth its voice. The sun raised high its hands; ¹¹ the moon stood still in its exalted place, at the light of your arrows speeding by, at the gleam of your flashing spear.
(Book of Small Prophet Habakkuk Chapter 3 verses 10 to 11)
Oh God my loving Father, all nature is subject to You and You are in control of all that goes on during our earthly life. Hallowed be thy name and may Your will be done Amen.
¹² In fury you trod the earth, in anger you trampled nations. ¹³ You came forth to save your people, to save your anointed. You crushed the head of the wicked house, laying it bare from the foundation to the roof."
(Book of Small Prophet Habakkuk Chapter 3 verses 12 to 13)
Oh God my beloved Father, You are a mighty warrior, King of Kings our Champion against the forces of evil. I thank You for standing up for us during our everyday life battles Amen.
¹⁴ You pierced with their own arrows the head of his warriors, who came like a whirlwind to scatter us gloating as if ready to devour the poor who are in hiding.
(Book of Small Prophet Habakkuk Chapter 3 verse 14)
Oh God my Father, You are my champion and hero. Even though I am not aware of the actions of those who are against me You are aware and take the necessary actions to ensure my well being on different levels. I thank You for this fort of defense my God and Father Amen.
¹⁵ You trampled the sea with your horses, churning the mighty waters.
(Book of Small Prophet Habakkuk Chapter 3 verse 15)
Oh God my Father, how great is Your Name, Your Power and Your love. You have full control over nature and nothing happens without Your knowledge and awareness Amen. thank You Jesus.
¹⁶ I hear and tremble within; my lips quiver at the sound, Rottenness enters into my bones, and my steps tremble beneath me. I wait quietly for the day of calamity to come back upon the people who attack us.
(Book of Small Prophet Habakkuk Chapter 3 verse 16)
Oh God my Father, I still tremble when I remember when I heard Your voice for the first time I was on the verge of a heart attack.
¹⁷ Though the fig tree does not blossom and no fruit is on the vines; though the produce of the olive fails, and the fields yield no food; though the flock is cut off from the fold, and there is no herd in the stalls, ¹⁸ yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will exult in the God of my salvation. ¹⁹ God, the Lord is my strength he makes my feet like the feet of a deer and makes me tread upon the heights. To the leader with the stringed instruments.
(Book of Small Prophet Habakkuk Chapter 3 verses 17 to 19)
Oh God my beloved Father, I would like to end this third chapter of the book of the prophet Habbakuk with the following prayer:-
To all who have the Holy Spirit of life, the Spirit of God in their hearts, souls and mind. Let us rejoice and give thanks. Even though at this moment life may seem to be bleak and down. Trust in God my Father, for He is able to overcome all tribulations in His Holy Name Amen. Blessed be the Name of God.
